Luke Birch

 

 

Molly trained at Trinity Laban graduating with an honours degree in Dance Theatre in 2008. Following graduation she has worked as a freelance artist across both London and the UK.

As an artist for Dante or Die Theatre Company she led their outreach work in the community. Outside of London, she was the Choreographer for the production of “The Entertainer” by the Garrick Rep Company in Staffordshire and has led large scale site specific community projects for various Staffordshire Arts Festivals.

Since 2011 she has worked as lead artist for East London Dance working in a variety of community dance settings. This has included working with the over 60s in conjunction with Natasha Gilmore, Director of Barrowland Ballet. Her most recent project was in the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

For the past two years, Molly has led the over 60’s dance group “Leap of Faith” as part of her role at ELD. This led to the her forming her own Dance company , “Damn Fine Dance” which recently made their debut performance at Sadler’s Wells as part of the Elixir festival. 

 

 

 

Luke began his dance training at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance and then went on to complete his BA Hons degree at Laban in 2008. In 2009 he joined post graduate dance company Edge at The Place/LCDS.

 Professionally he has performed for H2 Dance, Yael Flexer, Nic Sandiland, Angela Praed, Charles Linehan, Dog Kennel Hill Project, Rosemary Lee (Rehearsal Director), Punchdrunk, Florence Peake and Rahel Vonmoos.

He has also worked on projects with artist Pablo Bronstein and Matthias Sperling for Tate, Martin Creed (Turner Prize Winner), and a restaging of Yvonne Rainer's Trio A and the Mirror City exhibition, both at The Hayward Gallery and with Aya Kobayashi for the Tate Modern and Tate Britain.

 Luke also has a passion for teaching and has delivered classes and workshops with Greenwich Dance Agency, Big Dance, The Place, Circus Space, Independant Dance, Laban, Shobana Jeyasingh Company Class and Yael Flexer Company Class.

Luke is an Assossiate Lecturer at Surrey University and London Studio Centre.
